How can you help Keighley Cat Care?

We desperately need cat food, litter and money for vet bills

We are all volunteers at Keighley Cat Care and receive no payment for our work. Nor do we have any government help. All funds are raised by ourselves by way of donations from the public.

Wanted - Do you have any unwanted Christmas or birthday presents that you would like to donate? We use these as tombola prizes or table top sale items to raise much needed funds. Gratefully received items :- toiletries, bric a brac, jewellery or other household items. Please contact Chris on 01274 568380 or keighleycatcare2@btinternet.com

e-Bay shop - On top of selling all suitable items that are donated to us at table top sales, we have an ebay shop where we list very nice things. Have a look and happy bidding! ebay

Easyfundraising - Register with Easyfundraising and the retailers you use to shop online will give us a donation everytime you shop with them accessing their sites through easyfundraising. It is the easiest way to make a donation and the money does not come out of your pocket. See more info on the link below: EasyFundraising

PROCEDURES FOR CATS COMING INTO CARE

All cats and kittens coming into our care are placed in foster homes in and around the Keighley area, we currently have 9 foster homes.

Those cats and kittens coming into our care which are in need of immediate veterinary attention because of illness, injury etc. are taken straight to our vets - Aireworth Vets and given any necessary medication/treatment etc.

All the cats are routinely treated for fleas and worms, fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered if old enough (5-6 months old). We also give new owners a leaflet from Pet Plan entitling them to four weeks free insurance. Pet Plan offer a discount for those continuing with the policy at the end of the four weeks. We are partnered with Pets at Home who provide us with a discount voucher for new owners to use in their stores.

We ask for a donation towards the costs we have incurred and suggest a minimum of £75.00.

To put this into perspective the following is an average cost for the above procedures if new owners took the cats to a veterinary practice themselves:

Vaccination Course £44.00
Female Neutering (Spay) £58.00
Male Neutering (Castration) £43.00
Microchipping £28.00
Flea & worm treatment £12.00

The cost for a female cat would be £142.00 and £127.00 for a male. Our donation is almost half this and does not take into account their feeding costs or any vet costs for illness, surgery etc. The shortfall on this and for all the other veterinary costs i.e. treatment for illness, injury etc. is made up by our fundraisin efforts.

The criteria for homing is that it must be a permanent, safe and loving home for the cat/kitten and we always do everything we can to make sure we "get the right cat in the right home".
